AFRC Announces FY20 Reserve FM Readiness Forum Dates and Location

The Air Force Reserve Financial Management Readiness Forum will be held in Tampa, FL on 22-23 Aug with the travel day on 21 Aug. We highly encourage all FM TRs, IMAs, AGRs and ARTs to attend the two full days of education, professional development, and information on reserve readiness.

Here are the details you need to know:

The forum will take place at the Marriott. Rooms should be booked no later than 10 Aug here.

The Marriott offers a shuttle to and from the airport so you will not need a rental car. A hotel shuttle is also available to take you to and from local eating establishments.

Our schedule will begin at 0800 and end at approximately 1600. If you need to depart on 23 Aug do not schedule flights before 1800.  The agenda is still being finalized but the main areas of emphasis will be:

  • What is going on in the career field, deployment and training updates (FMXX)
  • Best practices,
  • Travel updates
  • Mentoring
  • Officer and enlisted calls
  • Financial reserve working group update
  • Deployment stories
  • DoD FM Certification

One social event is planned for our group. There will be a social hour the evening of 22 Aug in hotel (time TBD). Signs will be posted.

Our special guests are still being finalized and that list will be sent out in future communications.

Uniform of the day will be ABUs or OCPs.

Man-days are unit funded (Annual Tour, RPA or MPA)

If you have questions/concerns or special needs please let Lt Col Todd Main or MSgt Teresa Saunders know.

AFAOC Shares Air Force Status of Funds Using Power BI

The AFAOC, in coordination with the DEAMS FMO, has created a BETA version of cloud reporting capability based on an Integrated Status of Funds (e.g. DEAMS and Legacy data).

  • This reporting tool will serve as a stopgap while the DEAMS System Integrator continues to work towards resolving issues with the Status of Funds reports in DEAMS Reports.
  • Please follow hyperlink to access this report and be sure to enter your “us.af.mil” email address if prompted

Instructions:

Once at the site:

  • Click on Data Download
  • Filter Required Data (OAC, OE, Main_Limit, etc)
    • Saves the filter criteria for future reports – YEAH!!!!)
  • Click the big downward arrow in the gray box
    • Click on More Options
    • Click Export Data (if you want to use Excel)

Note: Chad Kukorola and James Johnson are amongst some of the smartest data-wonks I know. I bounce and share ideas with Chad on a semi-regular basis. I am going to highlight some of the great tools he’s built as a Air National Guardsman. If you know other “dataheads”, please share in the comments. I’m trying to compile a list and create an email listserve to share ideas and coordinate our efforts.

There will be a lot of additional Power BI info coming in the near future.
